HEB 5 Harris alps to standing staines

The Harris Alps May 12, 2019         Less pressure on the gang this day as we had no ferry’s to catch and after yet another whisky night some of us ( me )were slightly slower to emerge from our slumber. I slept like a log and even though it was one big room with six men in it, I had to be woken to be told everyone was up I hadn’t heard a thing! The rest of the gang had all had a breakfast by the time I was up showered and organised, we were half an hour later than normal getting organised but we were ready to hit the road at around 09:30.....we knew there was a big climb near the start that day and it was decided that some Tai chi stretching would be a good idea. This was performed in Tarbert main street with me trying to piece together the little amount of instruction I had received in Ecuador 12 years previous,  and we set off at 09:40.               ...

Day 4 north uist     The Cycle in the morning of our departure from the excellent tractor shed facility was perfect glorious sunshine with stunning views the road was undulating but not overly taxing, bob stopped with me for a while to point out st Kilda island way off in the distance hazy on the horizon behind the Monach isles,             There was a sea eagle in the air and on a few occasions bob and Gary stopped and got their binoculars out for a closer look at the birds, lapwings giving Arial displays   over pristine beaches plenty picturesque hamlets with thatched cottages, in short A beautiful mornings cycle of 21.29miles with hardly a breeze took us 2hours 38mins   to the Berneray ferry terminal we were getting the 13:30 sailing to leverburgh,       As per norm we were there in plenty time early and were hoping for a cafĂ© but there was nothing at this end ...
